The other shoe...

You know how it is, when things seem to be coming together so well, that you expect it all to come crashing down around you any second? The house hunting has finally come to a head. The only thing that can stop the real estate deal is to find out at the last second that meteors have plummeted into the house rendering it incapable of housing life (as we know it). That or to find out he has not done the repairs as requested.

But finally, the other shoe dropped. Old and busted got towed away. OK, it was old and busted. And it was abandoned by my heart, but the license plates were still good. It had a flat tire, and it had not been moved, so it was towed away. No warning, no opportunity for recourse, nothing. they have my vehicle, and they get to keep it until I can pick it up and pay them money. The amount they asked for was right at my tolerance point as to whether or not I wanted it, but then I thought, no, that amount is 75% of a new washer. I need the washer more than I need to give that car to charity, which is what I wanted to do in the first place.

Now, if I NEEDED the car, I would feel different. But I don't need it. It was more of an albatross than luxury, but I don't really like the way it was taken away from me.

Needless to say, I am glad I am getting out of this place. Between the cops victimizing me after I got broken into, the cops victimizing me after I got a new car and the condo association forgetting that they work for the people who LIVE in these condos, I am tired of living there. I am looking forward to moving a little slower and getting things moved in to where they need to go, instead of in yet another emergency pile.
