Jesus, Nick Zito. It looks like you've got your bases covered. Todd Pletcher, same to you. I wish Steinbrenner the best but I also wish he'd stay the hell away from the Derby. I hate New Yorkers getting mixed up in things. (OR FLORIDIANS. Sorry exquisitemayhem. But apparently he lives in Tampa, not Miami, so it's okay. No one told me Steinbrenner spent most of his time in Florida. What gives, Seinfeld?) He definitely won't win now that his horse has been named the favorite. It's the Kentucky Derby kiss of death to be named the favorite.

My derby picks (totally random and not based on odds, science, record, etc.):
- Wilko (it should be obvious why) - trained and ridden by no-names (to me), owned by Paul Reddam and Susan Roy. 20-1
- Buzzard's Bay - trained by Jeff Mullins, i.e. insomniakiller (except not really). Owned by Fog City Stable. 20-1

I'm sad that my favorite jockey isn't racing this year, but it's not a surprise, especially considering he just had surgery. (Pat Day's daughter goes to the same private school as my brother, and it's a small school, so we always run into the Days at graduations, ceremonies, etc. His daughter Irene is in the same grade as my brother, and they're both graduating from high school, so I think all around the man has a lot on his plate. It must be said that Pat Day is the most adorable human being alive. Jockeys are even cuter than babies. I get an incredible urge to dress both of them up in cute little outfits. I am so glad he will never read this.)

Who probably will win (despite my leanings):
- Afleet Alex 9-2
- High Limit 12-1

The favorite:
- Bellamy Road 5-2

Who I wish would win but definitely won't:
- Going Wild (trained by D. Wayne Lukas) at 50-1
- Sort It Out (trained by Bob Baffert) at 50-1 also
- Spanish Chestnut, at 50-1 too, just because he has a hilarious name
