I Know This Place, And That's Awesome.

There's no place like home.

Earlier I noticed there was a dead pigeon on Desiree's balcony. At some point I decided to open the window, move one of her chairs out there, and sit. So now it's me, the dead bird, and a chair out of the kitchen sitting on Magzine Street looking down at the Rue de la Course and Funky Monkey. There's the A&P that Faivre used to live by. One time I saw Alan, a guy I used to work with and his Great Dane, Red, outside and talked for hours. Past the A&P there's Big Fisherman, the best place in the city to get boiled seafood. Me and Dev went there one time and got a whole bunch of seafood and went down do the fly and ate that and drank Yellowtail Cabernet Sauvignon, the day I first met Sassypants. Glancing down, there's Mary, a girl I went to grammar school with, walking her dog, and Ben, some guy who used to be around Dev's house who has huge dreadlocks. On the drive here I saw Phant's car. Across the street there's a fancy store called ah-ha! where Desiree bought a T-shirt once. It was over-priced. So far, in the last ten minutes, I've seen seven bikers. Over on the other side of the street there's the Balcony Bar & Cafe. When I worked at the Hotel we used to order food from there like, twice a week and the guy used to hit on me and bring me free cheesecake, but I hate cheesecake so I'd give it to Kyasha, the big black lady who worked with me. Ah, the magazine bus, so beautiful and unpredictable. One time I had to run to work at the brewery because of Mardi Gras. That was a rough day and I was super tired once I got there. Down there is a diner my cousin, Raymond, opened called Slim Goodies. He used to own the Italian Pies, back before they got big and franchised. Raymond is a huge hippie and doesn't go for the franchising thing, so he finally sold it after his son died from lukemia and it went huge. I remember making pizzas when I was ten. It was always such a treat and I don't know why. And it's hot as hell, and I like it this way.

Right now, there's no place in the world I'd rather be.

Ha! There's my dad! He just drove past and honked. Incredible.

New Orleans is the lover I'll never tire of.
