It took some searching, and a not inconsiderable amount of financial maneuvering (trust funds and bank accounts transferred, withdrawn from, liquidated), and possibly a few subtle threats... but he has the building. Two stories and a basement, just a few blocks from the ESU campus ( Read more... )

When Karolyn glares, Benedict opens his hands in a 'mea-culpa-no-offense-meant' sort of way. No comments about 'if you've nothing to hide, then why are you so damn sensitive?' or anything. Bitchiness about telepathy was normal enough, however vexing, so he has no idea why he for some reason finds it surprising. Not like he'd ever met her before.

When Eric sonic-sweeps a bit, Benedict's impressed to notice.

When he hears the noise, Benedict looks over and...his dustcloths, etc. fall to the floor. And he's just going to take any memories of a childhood crush on Julie Andrews and cauterize them in a backsection of his mind now.

If Benedict is cauterizing, Lalla's newly-developed shields are slamming up around her mind even as she presses the backs of her hands to her mouth and laughs silently.

Which, by the way? Is really weird to look at. She's clearly entertained, but there's almost no sound to it. It does falter a bit when the headache starts to kick in (easier than it was in the nexus, but not easy, yet).

Maybe she should have made it more clear that she meant she has nothing to hide from anyone here, so if he has questions he can ask them aloud and not have to worry about her lying - but she's just a... realtively uncomplicated teenager, and they're not exactly known for eloquence or rational reactions.

It's just as well they suddenly have a mind-scarring distraction on hand, over there! ... Yikes. "Holy fucking - that one." The staring, it can happen now.

"... the only song I remember is the one about the spoonful of sugar, and I'm not singing it. By myself." Mona threatens, craning her neck to watch Mary Poppins (who has obviously always been a lady of international travel) clean things. It isn't that she isn't unnerved, particularly by the squelching noises, but she's accustomed to internalizing these kinds of reactions.

"... Chim-chim-cheree?"

What. It seems appropriate! It does not, however, reflect the look of bewildered and horrified amusement on Eric's face. Because on the one had: this is hysterical. On the other: He can never look at the Professor the same way ever again. His sexual attractiveness scale, Jalal, you broke it!

"I think I need to bleach my brain."

Jalal laughs, and it's.... well, if Mary Poppins was an evil overlord (you mean she wasn't?) that's what it might sound like. "You brought it upon yourselves, you know."

You see, kids? This is what happens when you make fun of your elders!

Benedict sighs a little, gets back to work, and resumes a small smile, a slightly more...bemused one this time.
"I think everyone has learned his or her lesson, sir."

Because if it gets to raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens -- from him-- well, suicide is against Benedict's religion.

Headache starting a low thud in her temples, Lalla goes back to her tasks with the very barest implication of that weird look that might be something like amusement.

Karolyn laughs and hums quietly as she gets back to her dusting. She is havng no problems with mind-scarring sexuality breaks or mental repression, which probably has everything to do with Mary Poppins not being her type. Lucky her?

Mona can only proclaim thusly: "No children's parties for you." They wouldn't appreciate it anyway.

"Pfff." She waves her hand in the air, then displaces more dust outside, where it is probably confusing some squirrels. "Not that I've never cleaned like this, but do any of you find your abilities versatile enough for other applications? Like a lot of times when my hands are full, I can move some things around in a limited way, at least..."

Since no one seemed sensitive about their powers, she's curious to see how often and to what degree, if any, they're used in everybody's daily lives. And the professor as well. Obviously Karolina makes an effort not to use her mutation on a daily basis, but Mona wouldn't have thought of dissolving tough build up, so maybe there are some other useful tricks.
