My heart is hurting.
Ike affected my family.
My mom's husband's mother and all her family are from Winnie, Texas. Some of that family are as old 80. Gran is here without Pa...Pa stayed in Winnie to help their family members. Natalie and Ellie, which are Travis' sister and niece are from Galveston. They are now considered homeless. Yesterday Ellie was enrolled into the same school my sister goes to. And then there is Travis' brother Blayne. All without much. Very little clothing. Nothing to really call their own.
Through all that I think Ike has brought a change where needed in a few people's lives that are at my mom's house.
With every great tragedy comes a little lesson hidden within the hurt.
My life was nothing short of that.
I am grateful and blessed to what I have.
I think Amos Lee said it best.
"Not gonna blame the rich for what they got. or point a finger at the poor for what they have not."
My thoughts and prayers are out there for those affected by Ike as well.
