Have you ever gone to school and just had a totally amazing lecture, like... really good. The prof is SO into it and he's getting everyone involved and you can just tell that everyone is frantically scribbling notes not because they need them for the test but because they don't ever want to forget what the prof is saying because they feel better for knowing. It's awesome. I had a freaking bomb Black Freedom class today.
Last year I worte two essays and did mediocre on both. I've written two essays thus far this year and have gotten As on both of them. I do good work in history apparently.
SO... So You Think You Can Dance Toronto experience needs to be recounted.
It's hella long so I'll cut it for all you losers.
First off I met up with
seishin at Union Statio which was great and we went to dinner. She got her meal free because there was like... boney substance in it. After we walked down to the show, she went to her seat on the floor and me up in the back. Luckily it was a great view and I really got to see the whole stage. The show was great. I really enjoyed it and LOVED Vagabond Cabaret and Lion King. Lacey still wasn't dancing full time so Shauna did "Dancing" and it was so beautiful. So, so moving.
Okay, so afterwards was pretty bomb, EXCEPT when I accidentily went outside the Air Canada Centre and they wouldn't let me back in to meet
seishin. I ended up going to wait by the buses for the dancers and finally Sheryl and I found each other. We had a pretty good spot on the line, we were all the way down at the end and in front of one of those really bad caution tape boundaries. We bonded with a security guard. The dancers I met go as follows...
Anya
Kameron
Neil
Sara
Lacey
Lauren
Hok
Jesus
Shauna
They were all exceptionally pleasent. The ones who stood out the most to me were Kameron, Shauna, and Jesus.
Kam was just totally cool and a nice guy. Shauna was so grateful when I told her how much I loved "Dancing" this time around. She seemed really insecure about doing Dancing well and when I told her she met the bar and raised it, she looked as if she was going to cry. SHE IS ONLY 18! That is so crazy. She is so elegant and graceful and poised.
Then, oh Lordy, Jesus. He is SO, SO warm. Like, an amazing person. At first I just shook his hand and said something along the lines of "I just wanted to tell you that you are such an amazing performer and it's so encouraging to see that on television now a days. It's so rare." And he just pulled me into this big hug and was all "Thank you so, so much! That means so much to hear!" He, Sheryl, and I chatted for a long time. At one point I was like (referring to Sheryl and I) "We met because of you," which led Sheryl into an explanation of my "Jesus is my homeboy icon" which apparently he has seen. He has seen the legendary homeboy icon which is very embarrasing. But also amazing. Towards the end he asked us to support him when he has an album release next year some time in TO, to which Sheryl and I were all "Heck yes" and told him abount our various ways of getting the news out in TO (for he, online music mag, for me, publicist job). Long story short, he has our e-mails. He may be in touch with us. He told us how glad he was to meet us and all in all, the whole encounter took about fifteen minutes. It was awhile, considering all the people he still had to talk to. At one point he also help my hand. I don't think he realized he was doing it, but that's cool. I'm down.
All in all, it was totally fucking amazing.
I NEED TO GO TO BED.
