(anything else): Um, spoilers for what happens to Zack in Crisis Core. Or, FFVII, if you want to be technical.

Sora’s smile is wide when he stumbles into Merlin’s house. Much to the wizard’s dismay, he trips over the stack of books on the floor, accidentally bringing Donald and Goofy down with him. “Whoops?” he offers the wizard, attempting to make his smile even wider.

“Ohh!” Merlin shakes his head, and scowls. “Honestly, what would I do with out you all, stampeding into my house? Things would be a lot cleaner around here, yes…” He sighs and pulls out his wand, opting to repair the damage, when he frowns, and glances at the pile. “Oh, my word?” He blinks, scooping up one book in particular, his eyes growing wide with recognition. “Yes…I cannot believe this book is here! Sora!”

The brunet jumps to attention, hoping the wizard won’t make him clean the pile up. He didn’t mean to trip!

“Take this over to Aerith. I think…she might want to see this.”

A little while later, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and the book arrive at Aerith’s house. Greetings are exchanged, and Sora grins, before hanging her the book. “I don’t think it’s like Pooh’s book - Merlin would’ve known right away.”

She smiles, and pours the four of them tea, before taking a seat at the table. “Well, I don’t know what Merlin was thinking, giving me thi-oh!” Her eyes grow wide after opening the book. A small picture falls out, and her hand covers her mouth in surprise.

Sora blinks, and picks up the picture. “Do you know him?” He asks Aerith, who is still in shock. He shows it to Donald and Goofy, the former of the two rolling his eyes at Sora, as though Sora should’ve known that they didn’t know.

“His name was Zack - Zack Fair.” Sora almost jumps, before turning back to Aerith. His jaw drops when he finally makes contact - were those tears in Aerith’s eyes? “He was the kindest, bravest man I’ve ever met.”

Sora nods in response, before glancing over to the picture. “Zack, huh?” He inspects closer. “Isn’t that Cloud’s sword he’s holding?”

“Gwarsh,” Goofy comments. “Did Cloud get his sword from this Zack fella?”

Aerith nods, lightly brushing away a tear that threatened to spill. “Yes. He was always so cheerful, honest, faithful… a lot like you, Sora.”

Sora grins in retribution, and puffs out his chest. “Well, now I have to meet him!” Goofy nods, and Donald wonders what the worlds would do with two Soras. “Soo… where is he?”

Her smile doesn’t waver, but the light in her eyes has disappeared, and she glances back to the photo. “Oh… well.” Aerith closes her eyes, thinking back to the day that, while tending her flowers, she just knew that something had happened to the cheerful man. Shaking her head and placing the photo back into the book, she looks over to Sora with a sad smile. “You’re a bit too late.”

Summary: Axel and Rikku should have never met.

Axel narrowed his eyes to the faerie that flew in front of him. Rikku gave a sigh, before landing on his head, making sure to stay away from his spiky hair. “Yeeesh!” She grinned down to him, as though his torment was the reason for her joy. “You are extremely boring! And have dangerous hair.” She giggled, before knocking her fist against his skull, causing his glare to increase. “And you have no treasure. Boooring!”

His left eye twitched violently. Surely there had to be some …some deity up there that hated him. Otherwise, there would be no way he would be stuck with such a …thing. He chose to ignore the thing, and continued to stalk around Hallow Bastion, glad that, besides the pixie, no one else had seen him.

Granted, someone would if she didn’t shut up!

“No, really,” Rikku babbled on, much to Axel’s dismay. “What do you spike your hair with? It’s downright dangerous! And here I thought Sora’s hair was bad…”

“Thing,” Axel stated, glancing to the top of his head. She narrowed her eyes at the rude wording. “Go away.”

Rikku huffed, and turned up her nose. “No! You’re a meanie. Besides!” With a leap, she jumped off his head and floated in front of him. “I could help you! Whatcha looking for?”

Axel rolled his eyes, and tried to bat her away. “Noo, come on!” She frowned, and poked his cheek. “I’ll help! What are you looking for?”

Shaking his head, Axel simply sat on a brick ledge, and glanced up to the sky. Kairi…well, he knew where she was - The World That Never Was. Stupid Saïx, messing up his plans. With a smirk, he looked over to Rikku, who continued to stare impatiently at him. “My best friend.”

“Ohh, now we’re getting some where!” She cooed, and landed on his shoulder. “Alright - what does he look like?”

Axel shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. You won’t be able to find him anyway.”

Rikku gave an indignant squawk, before kicking his shoulder. “How dare you! I’m Rikku, treasure hunter extraordinaire!” She began beating the side of Axel’s head, growing more annoyed when he barely responded. “I can find anything!”

“You’re a bit too late, pixie,” he muttered, mostly under his breath. Rikku blinked, and stopped beating Axel in order to sit on his shoulder again. Axel smirked, before clasping his hands together and leaning on them. “The Roxas I know is long gone.”

Rikku frowned. “Oh, I’m sorry…” She patted the part of his head she had been punching before. “If it makes you feel better, I like your crazy spikes.”

Axel snorted, and shook his head. Faerie or not, the thing was crazy.
