Luxord can’t be that good. Demyx frowns as Luxord shuffles through his cards. Just because he’s the Gambler of Fate doesn’t mean that he can win every game they play!
Luxord simply gives a slight smirk, before placing his cards down, much to the other blonde’s dismay. After collecting his pile of winnings (which is only a handful of munny; Demyx has learned against betting high against him), Demyx leans over, frowning.
“Something wrong, nine?” Luxord questions, reshuffling his cards with an eyebrow raised. Demyx leaned back in his seat with a sigh.
“How can you win every time?! Sure, you’re the guy who can manipulate fate and time…” Demyx trails off, his mouth almost open in awe. “You cheat! You must stop time, then fix up your deck, mess up mine, and…”
Luxord’s eyes narrow slightly at being called a cheat. “Nine,” he begins, holding up the deck. He splays the cards out on the table, making sure that they all face down. “I am a man of my word.” He picks up one nearest to the left end of the pile -a jack of clubs. “Maybe because you can’t understand the cards like I do,” another card -queen of hearts, “doesn’t mean that I cheat.” A third, being the king of diamonds.
Demyx blinks, slightly in awe that the Gambler really is that good with his deck. “So…is it kind of like magic?”
Luxord is busy picking a fourth card, before he sighs slightly and nods. With Demyx, maybe it would be easier to explain it as such. He hands over the last card to Demyx, before leaning back in his seat. “Yes, I suppose it is like magic.”
Turning over the card in his hand, Demyx realizes that the Gambler had given him the Ace of Spades.
