go team?

Today I went cheerleading, and we mainly did stunts like this:

I'm the flyer, which means I'm the one at the top of the stunts. The above stunt is ok, I've been doing that for a few weeks now, and it's all good. Today, however, we learnt how to do this thing called a cradle, where once I've been up in the air for a bit, they throw my feet forward, so I fall backwards, and they catch me. Something like this (but I don't get thrown as high - that I'm aware of):

Scary as hell at first, but am starting to feel ok about it.
The real bitch was this though:

I couldn't get up properly when I'm supposed, so kept having to stand up slowly (which is difficult on one leg) and have extra people around to hold onto. Damnit - I WILL master it. Apparently I have to practise standing on a tin of baked beans.

Found out at the end of practise that I hadn't made to the competition squad (can still keep going on Wednesdays for fun, and a few smaller events), damnit I want to compete though! Am seriously considering seeing if I could run like a "2nd" squad, to give people who didn't make the squad a chance to also compete (there were quite a few good ones who didn't get in). If that can't or won't happen, I may try and find a non-university affiliated all-star squad in Bristol (all-star just means doing competitions, not cheering for sports - I'm not really interested in shouting "go team!" at rugby players).

Today I got a copy of Venue magazine, which is a really popular (not like that suppliment in the Nottingham Evening Post) what's on guide to Bristol and Bath. There's a whole big feature on The Gunpowder Plot and my face is in it. I found that quite exciting.
