deadline gone
La la la My deadline is gone and ALL work was handed in.
3 WEEKS OFF!
I went out with some course people to the croft on Friday night, twas nice to socialise with them for a change.
Saturday was spent being very late to my band practise, and going to Choke in the evening. Rose Kemp band were good. Da Capo were alright, but I would have enjoyed them more in a big pit of dancing. Sunnyvale Noise Sub-Element were pleasent enough, but I found my mind wondering alot. No matter, they provided a good sound track for the wondering. Tractor were good.
Sunday I went to a talk in the afternoon by the leader of the Kronos quartet, and went to their concert in the evening. They performed the Requiem for a Dream suite, but it was too short (1 play through of each of the 3 main string involved themes) and wasn't played terribly well - the timing of the lead violin was well lax and he tried to make it too overdramatic, rather than reveling in it's beautiful simplicity. Still, it was great to see it live, and I rather enjoyed the rest of the concert, particularly the second half of the triple quartet by Steve Reich. I liked the fact that they played proper encores too, two of them, not just walking on for another bow.
Shortly I am going break dancing. I've not done that in ages. I hope I've not lost ALL of the minimal skills I once had.
I'm playing a Jar gig this Friday with Whalebone Polly (yay, they're great), Cajita and Tom somebody or other at the Folkhouse. They have a REAL piano at the folkhouse. I'm muchly looking forward to it.
