Tiny Rocketships

Jun 30, 2008 04:28

“Jac,
it sounds like you have a little tiny rocketship and it’s
about to take off. Can you leave those at home?”

- Amber, one of my Baristas on my sketchbook scanning on the Starbucks coffee bar

Spent an hour scanning up to page 62 in my sketchbook [counting both front and back]. I’m trying to be more economical since I’m running low, and these Canson Field Books I love so much with their 90 lb lightly textured cream paper are $24 a pop. I did receive a 50% coupon for Michael’s so that was exciting (is that sad?!) which I promptly [and joyously] redeemed for one of these babies.

Also, I started scanning everything in TIF since it’s a less compressed file, yay!

The cover image...

And a few pages...

I really, really hate painting in photoshop since its not very intuitive for me. I prefer blending stuff in painter to having to smooth things over in photoshop but I feel I'm behind in this department so I've giving myself a week to play catchup for 7 years of slacking!

ps- this image actually has a lot of detail but it's dark so turn up your monitor's brightness

First attempt with a classic subject of mine:
