Tired. Woof. Late flight last night. Got in at 12:30 a.m. Then got up at 5 for work. The connecting flight in Philly was cancelled due to airplane maintenance and/or mechanical failure. So my flight was pushed back two hours and then THAT flight was an hour late arriving to us, due to inclement weather. Once we boarded, we sat on the runway for 45 minutes, in line with 20 other jets waiting for take-off. I hate the Philadelphia airport (!!!) - and always have! It's a mess - filthy and crowded and disorganized. Then there was the baby - that screaming bloody baby that would not shut up ALL the way to Nashville. People all around me, myself included, were stuffing their fingers into their ears or covering their ears with iPod and noise-cancelling headphones, etc.
And then there was the Jolly Green Giant next to me - some guy in his mid-20s with that 'goatee sans mustache' look and the token leather string choker necklace thingy around his throat, you know, with the stone beads, trez folky/emo, who was probably 6' 6" and 300 pounds. He was totally oblivious to my presence - constantly bashing my elbow with his, constantly fiddling with the overhead lamp and air blower, while he raced through the "EASY" section of a paperback crossword puzzle booklet - then finally falling asleep, his mouth wide open, snoring loudly in my ear. It was one of the worst flights I've ever had. Now. Having said that, any flight that takes off and lands at its destination safely these days is still a good flight. I know. Thank you God. Heh.
My vacation back home in New York State was the best I have ever had up there. Went to a high school reunion and then a couple days later my old band did a small reunion concert outdoors and several people from the reunion showed up and gave us such wonderful support, applauding, dancing, cheering, even though we were so rusty. It was so much FUN! :-))) After playing for three hours, it started to rain, and the audience members, mostly old and dear friends, without being asked, instantly rushed up to help us tear our equipment down and put it away - girls, guys, everyone pitched in. Now THAT's loyalty and love and friendship! You can't buy that anywhere! :-)
I will write more when I have had a good night's rest. But all in all, it was wonderful.
