"It never said pure good."

You know, sometimes I kind of freak myself out. Not twenty minutes ago, I was pondering the phrase "pure of heart". Because that's something you often hear associated with some fantastical object of power, right? Such-and-such will "grant great power to those pure of heart." But it struck me that a statement like that, "pure of heart", doesn't necessarily mean "good". It simply means that something is without conflict. And people have been known to call others "pure evil". So...if someone did have evil in their heart, but it was pure evil, wouldn't they also be able to obtain said great power?

What freaks me out about this is that I was just thinking about the concept, then I put on last night's episode of Young Justice and the VERY SAME CONCEPT comes up in the first two minutes of the show. A supervillain, Harm, steals Beowulf's sword from a museum. This is a sword said to give great power to those pure of heart. And because Harm is such a complete bastard, he can tap into that power. Because his heart may be evil, but it's pure evil.

The same sort of thing happened just before I learned about the show Heroes. I thought about a story involving regular people mysteriously gaining superpowers. And with Gnomeo and Juliet, when I thought at one point that garden gnomes would probably make a good kids movie. Just a couple days after the thought, the trailer for Gnomeo and Juliet was posted on Apple trailers.

It's weird, is all I'm saying. I'll think up a concept, and then it pops up in a show or movie very soon after. Strange.
