She's settling in.

I'm leaning very heavily toward the name "Panya" for the new cat. Sorry, windelina.

As usual, this morning I called in to LAC at nine and bumped my alarm forward to get a bit more sleep. Only what happened is this: a few minutes later Panya (working title) jumps up right next to my head with a meow, flops down and puts a paw on my face. Just places it there. I push it away and turn on my side away from her. She moves to the other side and again puts a paw on my face. I turn away again. I hear a weird sort of, well, smacking sound and then realize she's chewing on my hair. I push her off the bed. She comes back up. Paw on face again. I decide that since I'd only bumped the alarm forward 20 minutes as I had a fairly early in time, I might as well spend the few remaining minutes petting her until the alarm goes off. This kept her from chewing my hair and mostly kept her paws off my face. Sheesh.

I remember something in her online description from the shelter about her "making sure you get up" when your alarm goes off in the morning. It could be a generic, "Hey, your alarm went off so you can pay attention to me. Don't sleep!" type of thing. But I suspect it has more to do with food. I may have to get in the habit of shutting them both out of the bedroom when I call in every morning. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
