While I don't know much about the Netherlands, I have recently discovered that it's pretty easy to get a 2-year work visa to go to the UK. You could always look into that for the Netherlands.

you're right about that; i've looked into it before and while it's only a 12 month visa that you can get for the netherlands, it is possible.

however, i am eligible for a dual canadian/irish citizenship which would allow me to live/work/play anywhere in the EU for however long i want! all i have to do is dig up about a million documents from my family...

You lucky, lucky bitch. If you dig up all that paperwork, would you at all be interested in a green card marriage?

totally.

but, since i'm assuming i only get one shot at spreading the green card seed (i don't think that polygamy is recognised), i am leaving it to all of the men in my life to buy me fancy things and take me out to dinner and tell me that i'm really good looking before i make the final call of who i'll be marrying.

Fine, you know what, I don't need you! I could offer to do all those things, sure, but it seems like I'd just be one in a crowd, I don't need that kind of crap. Besides, I've already got my own American green card deal being worked, and all I had to offer her was all my net profit from the first four years of living in America (don't negotiate green card deals when drunk, I've learned my lesson)! That coulda been yours, Didi, but you passed it up, you.
