At least I'm trying to get my butt in gear with it. Some very important events coming up.
In October I get to dance with my absolute favorite musician and I'll be opening for dance legends in the USA- Dahlena, Lee Ali (was Rebaba but she had to back out due to injury), my good friend Monica, Cory Zamora and Helena Vlahos. The air ticket has me struggling to get through until the next pay check (think its possible for 40,000 yen to last until October 15?). I've chosen my music, I'm nervous as when I play with zills my mind for improvising goes blank...I guess I'm too busy concentrating on playing. If I have a choreography or set movements and don't I have to think I can dance and play. Without zills I can improvise ok, if I combine both I end up walking in a big circle doing only 3/4 shimmy or basic egyptian or some kind of simple traveling step. But Sadia is trying to help me block out the parts first then adding the zills. It's a bit short notice to get to be a pro and zills and improv so maybe this is the best solution. I'm not worried about veil at all. I chose Hey, Valla (armenian) Kohda Negadar (Persian) and Leila (arabic) for a nice 6 minute mini-American Cabaret Routine. It's gonna be on October 19-20 and totally gonna take all workshops and hopefully I can get a sword from the vendors ( I really love the ones by turquoise international). Bad point is that Sadia put Lesley in the same hotel as me...during the shareen el safy retreat it was the same and she was a total basket case and kept me up all night demanding why is always me and not her and why doesn't anybody pay attention to her...
Trying also to finish a dance resume and teacher profile because Sadia thinks I should start teaching. I know I'm not as fit as I was but I hope I'm still restaurant ok...she told me not to go to bolbol because she wants to strike up a deal for her studio but I think I should go anyway because bolbol is perfect being a persian restaurant and the owner and I have some kind of bond and he often asks about me to Sadia about dancing. I don't know if many people will come to sadia's school even she adds me to the list of teachers so perhaps I should find a culture school too...I want to teach a beginner class that includes folk dances (including persian folk dances like bandari). For restaurants I wanna check out some in Yokohama too.
