I went to the Sarah Brightman concert tonight with Vicky and her mom! It was absolutely wonderful. We were so close to the stage...four rows back and only three seats away from the catwalk stage extension. I could have got up and touched her when she walked by and waved at the audience. She sings just as well live as she does on her records, and that is a real pleasure to me because I hate it when artists make huge changes to songs I like sung the first way. If that makes any sense. A surprise of the evening was that she sat down and played the piano (wearing something like chainmail no less, which must have been real comfy to sit on) to the song, "The War is Over". You always just figure she can play instruments, but to see it was just wonderful. She was quite brilliant. Her costumes were rich and beautiful, and her backup dancers (also very pretty) were sometimes more fun to watch than she was. She even did "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom...although I would have preferred "The Phantom of the Opera" itself, but hey...can't be picky. Man...what I wouldn't give to be able to SEE the original cast all come back together and do the musical again. *sigh* But, the concert was great! I'd go see her again if she came back.
