4. The Scientist - Aimee Mann
This used to be the number two song on my list, but after some quick smart decisions its jumped down a few spots. Whilst it's not an Aimee Mann written song, it's a song which she makes her own. I used to be extremely keen on Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head, but alas, not anymore. However, this one song is quite superb. Mann's cover of it is beautiful and the last thirty seconds are timeless. Whilst Aimee Mann has done such fantastic songs like Pavlov's Belll, Save Me, Wise Up and The Fall Of The World's Own Optimist, her cover of The Scientist is the best song I've ever heard from her.
I found an old copy of Hello Nasty! by the Beastie Boys in my bedroom the other day and I've been listening to it quite a bit. It's making me crave some Control Machete, and almost making me want to go and fling fifty bucks on the Amores Perros soundtrack just to hear Control Machete. Sigh.
There's a new Pixies DVD out. Wow.
