Moment of the Day: Saturday

Yesterday, while working at the museum, someone came up to me and asked if she needed to pay money to leave the museum. She had money in her hand and seemed quite insistent on it. All I could think of was Charlie on the MTA.

that's pretty amusing. And weird.

As for Charlie, I think she's referring to poor old Charlie who couldn't get off the train. Lyrics are here: http://www.petitiononline.com/Charlie/petition.html

the relevant stanza:

Charlie handed in his dime
At the Kendall Square station,
And he changed for Jamaica Plain.
When he got there the conductor told him,
"One more nickel."
Charlie couldn't get off of that train.

You guys havent heard this song before? It is a classic!
nobody remembers the chorus??

"But did he ever return
No, he never returned,
And his fate is still unlearned.
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston,
He's the man who never returned."

The song is about a man who couldn't pay the exit fare for the T (subway).
