My First Day in London....

It is now 12:04 am London time. I have been awake without so much as a nap for approximately 36 hours. But for some reason I don't really feel tired enough to go to sleep. Today has been one crazy and very long day. I left last night for London on an 11:30 flight, and arrived at BADA (my program) at about 1 PM today. Me and my roommate Andy unpacked and met our other flatmates. Then we decided to wander around the entire building (all flats of people in BADA, though there are two separate programs running side by side.) There are 5 people including myself here from Conn. Also one of the guys in my program is someone I knew from community theatre in junior year! It's so great to reconnect with him. We met some fantastic people and told everyone that we'd like to go out to dinner with as many people as possible and told anyone interested to meet us in the lobby at 6 PM. 2 hours later, about 30 of us marched into a restaurant and were given our own private room.
We all had lots of varieties of beer (as it's legal for us to drink here!) We had a fun and rowdy time in the restaurant, then went to the supermarket to buy some staples (ie breakfast, candy, alcohol) At the top (6th floor) of our building is what is called "The Penthouse". It is an absolutely HUGE flat which holds 14 of us. It includes a huge stone porch which has a marvellous view of London. From after dinner on were the festivities (out on said porch). We played Kings and "never have i ever" and i felt as though we all were such good friends already - no one would have been able to detect that this was our first night together. At one point fire works went off which was really cool. All in all a terrific and exciting first day in London. I can't wait for the many more to come...
