So I finally remembered that I hadn't posted the last of my NYC pictures yet. :B I guess I'll do that now! Though it is very likely that I'll get distracted halfway through writing this post, hmm...
Anyways, while I took my dslr with me, I barely took any photos with it outside of the Met, and those pics have already been posted. I think there's only one dslr pic in this bunch, sorry!
So the first picture I took on this trip was just some Manhattan scenery, out of the taxi window.
Also out of the taxi, Grand Central Station. Which you can't hardly see, whoops!
One last taxicab photo, was the front of our hotel. Such a shame they had scaffolding in front of it! It's supposed to be really pretty otherwise.
My first indoor photo, was in the main lobby area. I took this while we were waiting to get all checked in. It took a while because of the certificates I had for a free stay, and the approvals and everything that entailed.
My one dslr pic, is of the very impressive chandelier inside the Park Avenue lobby. We sat in there for a little while when we were waiting for both our room to be ready, and for
heartflood to show up from her train ride.
Another view of the chandelier, but with filters & editing from my cell phone. I liked the antique look of this photo. XD
Fun fact about the two lobbies of the Waldorf-Astoria: originally, back in the day, it wasn't considered proper for women to be around when men were conducting their business. The main lobby, which was darker both in lighting and decorations, was the men's lobby, where they'd do their business dealings, while the women would lounge in the lighter, airier (and more artsy) Park Avenue lobby. O:
Picture of the hotel by night. It's a very huge hotel - takes up a whole block - and looks very Gotham City at night.
This was the Lexington Avenue side of the hotel, where we usually went in and out. Besides being closest to the subway, it was also kind of the back door, so we wouldn't look too much like riff-raff in the big fancy lobbies. XD
Wheee, ice cream! :D On Friday after my friend Melissa got into town, we went out in the rain to Chinatown, and then up to Union Square to go to the
Big Gay Ice Cream Truck! Luckily the line was shorter than usual, probably because of the rain.
While we were waiting for ice cream, Cathead Guy showed up! He's a regular apparently, and gets a plain cone for his kitty to eat. I totally can't believe his cat just sits on his head, in the midst of all those people and noises. My wimpy kitties would've had a heart attack! After scratching me all to hell, at that.
Not the best picture of the owner of Big Gay Ice Cream, Doug, but still. I was so happy to finally get to go to his truck! They're opening an actual store soon, and I hope I can visit that next time I'm in NYC, too. I ordered a Salty Pimp, btw, and it was delicious. :9
On Saturday, after the Met, Melissa and I went out to the docks to visit the Chelsea Brewing Company. I took this picture after our visit actually, but it was really nice to be down by the water!
This was a building across the street from CBC, and I just thought it looked cool, especially with the filters from my camera app. XD
Didn't edit this picture, but the round windows made me think it was a huge Hobbit house. ;x Apparently it's the old Port Authority building, but I like my theory better. XD
Oh, almost forgot this picture. I believe I took this Thursday night. It's the fountain out in front of Rockefeller Plaza, put through some filters.
I lied, I had two dslr pics! Though this isn't anything spectacular - I took it Tuesday morning before leaving - I just wanted to take a pic of Wonjo, where we always go and get Korean bbq. XD Too bad we didn't get egg volcano this time, though!
On Tuesday, when it was back down to just me &
aeryn_aerie, we went to St. Mark's to go to Tokyo Rebel (where I got Ty's bracelet that Andres modeled a few posts ago) and also to Crif Dogs. While we were walking back to the subway, I saw this place, and my inner Narutard had to take a picture. It's Ichiraku Ramen! Hahahahahahaha! XD
This is inside Crif Dogs. You can't see it in my picture, but off to the left of the frame is a little old timey phone booth, which is the secret entrance to Please Don't Tell, a hidden little speak-easy type of bar.
This was my Crif Dog - bacon wrapped & fried, with sour cream and avocado slices. Yummy!
And my last picture is actually not in NYC at all, alas. :'( This was the Mocha bread I bought at Paris Baguette, a yummy Korean bakery in Koreatown, and a cup of some of the Dean & Deluca coffee I bought while we were in Soho (in my big Starbucks mug :B).
I'm totally not cut out for travelogues! XD But that's the end of my random NYC photos. I hope I can go back soon! Or even better - I hope I can get a job and move up there soon! O:
