Kansas and suchlike

So, I find myself in Wichita Kansas for the summer, doing sceninc carpentry for Music Theater Wichita.  The guys I work with are all right, but all of em, including the TD are younger than me and in school still.  This wouldn't be a problem save that i'm used to a bit more professionalism now, and even the IATSE Union guy who run the house it self have nicknamed him "the dummy".  The carps just build the scenery and help with load ins, the Union guys run the show and load the set into the space.  I am looking for a job after this is over in another 3 weeks, i've been looking for a minute, but have not found many takers.  On the other hand, the ones i have found are exteremely attractive.  There is a Technical Assistant about 20 minutes from NYC that $35k a year and benefits, and a master electrician position in Long Beach CA.  I have interviewed over the phone with both places and am hoping to hear back to set up a 2nd in person interview in the near future.

Other than that life goes well.  Jen (my roommate) is testing the waters of the dating scene in Wichita for a minute until we get outta here.  Wichita is kidna like a bit smaller Dayton, without UD or the Organ (sp?) district.  So, neither of us wants to stay once my contract is up.

Life goes on, but I find myself missing all my friends at home.  I'm really hoping to get a job in CHicago, or Indaniapolis but prospects thus far have not been good.  There's not a lot of cool people around here to hang out with, and what would I be without a lot of people around?   I dunno, it'll be good when the season is over and I can come home for a week and see everyone.  Or maybe if i get a job near NY maybe home can come visit me, and we can tear it up around Manhattan.

that's all I got for now.  i talk at you all later
