Wobbles.

I just realised that I'd missed a section of the internet to catch up on.

The short version from us is:
We're okay - currently in Picton for the weekend. When we left we didn't have water, and I don't really expect to have it when we get back, but we have an adequate stockpile of drinking water, and work (on the other side of town) is fine and has all services operating adequately.

Our area is a bit of a mess (but not as bad as a bit further down the road). We have significantly more damage to the house this time, and won't be entirely surprised if it gets a yellow card when they do their inspections. (I'm not quite sure what the criteria are, they may be more relaxed about it than I expect). A lot more stuff fell over and broke this time too.

We spent a fair amount of time on Wednesday out walking - partly to scout the roads for the best escape routes, and partly just to get out of the house for a bit. The most bizarre sight was probably the car stuck on River Road - it was on one of the few flat pieces left, not able to go forward or backwards. (I shudder to think just how terrifying it must have been to be _in_ the car at the time...)

We're hoping for the best for as many people as possible, but it's going to be a long long road to recovery.
