rules & info
1) Personal abuse/harassment of other players will not be tolerated. If you dislike a person, keep it out of the game. Two characters are allowed to dislike each other and give each other a hard time but, as far as possible, that should be based on the personality of the characters, not those of the people playing them. If you dislike another player, please avoid them out of the game as far as possible and keep things civil when contact is inevitable.
2) Do not “god mod” (keep reading, we’ll clarify). You control your characters, not those of others. No killing or severely injuring/disabling another character without the permission of that character’s player. Likewise, you can not make other players’ character do things they wouldn’t normally do. Many players will be receptive to the idea of their character being injured, humiliated, or whatever if it advances the plot or character development and players are more than welcome to work out those sorts of things “off-screen” between themselves.
3) Communication in general makes the game more fun for everyone, whether it’s two players deciding on how they want the relationship of their characters to play out or it’s a player or players telling the mods “we’d like to see this.” Some players like more straight character-interaction and some like more action and plot. If you don’t feel you’re getting what you want from the game, we can try to fix that, but only if you let others know. We’re all here to have fun so it’s to the advantage of the players and mods to make sure other players are having fun as well.
4) Stay in character as far as possible. That doesn’t mean the character needs to act precisely how they did in the original fandom. People change and grow as time passes and new situations present themselves. But be reasonable about deviations from how you know the character has behaved in the past unless you have a good reason to think something’s changed in them. Make sure you can distinguish between what you would do or like to see and how your character would react.
5) Characters may have special abilities if it’s reasonable to the character (Wilson from House, for example, could quite reasonably be an empath) but, if it’s not canon, clear it with the mods. If a character’s abilities could unbalance the game and put them at an unfair advantage, the mods may choose to limit them or apply restrictions. We will work with you to keep the spirit of any given character intact but all special abilities/”superpowers” are ultimately at our discretion to keep the game fun for the other players.
6) We are currently only accepting canon characters from modern-day Earth (give or take roughly 20 years if you’d like to bring in a character from an older show or a show set in the near-future). No original characters are being accepted at this time. We are not currently accepting multiple copies of the same character (sorry, no Quantum Mirror O’Neills and Carters). If you would like to play a character who was killed off in their original canon, we can work with you to come up with an alternate backstory.
7) Characters from all mediums are welcome. The Characters can be from live-action television, movies, cartoons/anime, manga, books, comics, web-series, etc.
8) The fourth wall is fun to poke holes in, but be reasonable. Commenting that Magnus looks like that chick from Stargate is one thing. Blatantly telling another character that they’re fictional is something else entirely.
9) Do not meta-game. Your knowledge is separate from that of your character. Knowledge you have outside the game should only be used by your character if that character would reasonably have access to it.
10) You may play up to three characters but no more than two from any one fandom.
11) Above all, have fun!
