so i have to write a paper....
ive been writing it in my head for a while.
i was hoping to ask some people to say something about love vs sex.
so far i have some notes
happiness vs sensual pleasure
loving faults and imperfections
the main character is a surgeon there is a clear parallel between his commitment to his work and his wife. The commitment to his practice which is separate from his experience with the many bodies that he examines and cuts up. He is sleeping with many women. But he is only happy with his wife teresa. there's some connection of fidelity that is supposed to defend the main character.
this book is so fucked up. but brilliant. i hate most of the people in the book. They are very psychologically complex. I hope the author is intentionally doing this to the reader. I don't think his main idea about "lightness, Heaviness, and the essence of being". If the more extreme the characters are, the easier it is for you to see the lightness and heaviness of the happiness.
