Swiss, build neural network driven robots that have learned how to "lie".  Essentially, the article explains that the robots were instructed to seek food (lights) and received points for being close to food but avoiding poison.  They also had the means to blink a light atop of them. Which tended to draw more bots, eventually as the project continued the bots ceased to flash their lights upon the discovery of food.
