Has anybody else seen Order of the Phoenix yet? I didn't go to the midnight showing because my dad's cousin's kids wanted to see it with me, so I went at 9 AM the day it came out. Here's what I thought:
I'll almost definitely see this at least once more in theaters. Definite thumbs up from me. Things that deserve a specific mention, IMO:
- Remus/Sirius subtext ♥
- Did anyone else get Harry/Tonks vibes? Whut? (AND TONKS IS SO FUCKING CUTE. PLZ TO BE MAKING OUT WITH ME, NATALIA TENA.)
- A+++++ performances: Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Evanna Lynch (PERFECTION), Helena Bonham Carter. Among others, of course, but they were the ones that made me really sit up and take notice.
- I thought I couldn't love Neville any more than I already did. I was wrong.
- I was so, so, so pleased with the thestrals. They were most excellent.
- A+++++ on trimming out all the fluff that ought to have been trimmed out of the book and turning it into a pretty good movie that still tells the story. The use of the newspapers seriously aided in that, and I loved it.
- Music: IMPROVED (which is saying something because I've always rather adored it)
- el oh el, Arthur Weasley, do something with your hair, plz. Staying away from weed whackers might possibly help. Anyway, for a while my Arthur love seriously faded due to fandom ... things. But I was seriously distressed by his attack scene, which actually makes me happy. I remember my Molly/Arthur love now. :D
- Loved watching the various fighting at the Ministry. It was just so much fun to look at.
- The killer drapery was just as underwhelming here as it was in the book. And Remus holding Harry back was just as overwhelming. I DID NOT CRY. But, damn, did my heart hurt.
Also, there was some point where my whole body tensed and my fists clenched in anger, but I can't remember what it was... That's what I get for shopping with pre-teen girls for several hours before coming home and writing my thoughts. Can anyone think of what it might've been that upset me?
PEE ESS. MOAR REMUS, PLZ. ;)
