After a Herculean round of reading this weekend (to be followed by a Herculean round of reviewing this week) I found a new book to read and read-walked to the bus stop. Unfortunately, out in the sticks they don't have those chirpy-chirps to tell the blind--or those dorks whose noses are 60 pages into "Eat the Document"--when the light has changed, so I stood at the stoplight for, oh, let's say 10 or 15 minutes.*
I also realized as I was walking to work that I was wearing a corduroy jacket and corduroy slacks.** Dear god, I can't even dress myself anymore.
*Who am I kidding? I stood at the corner of 525 for a full 20 minutes. I missed the bus.
**This only happened because all my jeans are in the wash and it's waaay too cold for a skirt, so I had to wear the corduroy pants. It didn't really occur to me that my jacket was made of the same material, thereby dooming me to looking like a nincompoop all day. Also, I think that men wear trousers and women wear slacks, but I'm not really sure who wears pants. What do you think?
