Long story short? Thank God for hotel internet.

I'm down in Portland tonight with a couple of friends, ostensibly for the purpose of seeing some band called the Circle Jerks play at the Hawthorne tomorrow. My actual purpose here is more as girl back up, and as such I packed all the necessary makeup and sundries. We went to dinner and then out to see Juno, which I absolutely freaking loved. The rest of the group was not as impressed by it though, their reviews ranging from cute to boring and depressing. I recommend seeing it for yourself and drawing your own conclusions.

Mike, the kitties and I are mostly settled into the apartment now. It's odd how tonight, being away from them and stuck in a mildly socially akward situation in a hotel room which is freezing, because it's a smoking room and we're leaving the window open so it doesn't get too smoky - damn, that sentence derailed, but mainly my point is that for the last few weeks I've been homesick, but tonight is the first night that I'm homesick for the apartment.

It was beyond time for me to leave my family's house, but I didn't realize how hard it would be on many levels. At the same time, I think that it rates up in the top five best decisions I've ever made. So I'm proud of myself. I've started the spin-doctoring process of resume revision and cover-letter writing. Hopefully that whole employment thing works out for me this time. Holding down a job hasn't been one of my strengths in the past.

I'm thinking of you all tonight and I hope you're well. Mike's birthday is coming up soon, so I'll probably see some of you then. Until next time, folks.
