Quick vet visit

My previous experience of cats is that when you do something unpleasant to/with them, they will get into a Mighty Huff and punish you by not deigning to pay any attention to you (except at mealtimes).

So, today I put Rosa in her carrier and biked over to the local vet so that she could have her annual shot. The waiting room was crammed with adolescent dachshunds who all got into a right yappy state over the fact that Rosa was a cat, so I decided to take her outside and wait there, it being a very nice, warm evening. When all the dachshunds had left we were called in, she got her shot and we were back home in less than five minutes. Poor thing, she probably remembered her last visit to the vet, when she was put under and had teeth removed. :(

But when we got home and I let her out of the carrier, she just sat down and waited for me. I went into the kitchen and gave her a treat and some yummy wet food, which she ate and then, again, sat down and waited for me. I went to the bathroom and made myself a drink and went to find the book I'm reading, and she sat and waited for me. When I was ready, she ran ahead of me out to the balcony (checking to see that I was following) and jumped up on the balcony table and mewed at me to sit down. And then she wanted me to pet her for ages ("Hey! Don't slack off!") until she fell asleep. So I sat there sipping my drink and reading my book while she slept on the little table in front of me in the light of the setting sun.

Did I ever tell you that she's the sweetest most adorable cat, ever?
