Strange goings on
Still cold, still snowing! Still traffic chaos!
I heard strange noises from the landing this morning, and when I tried to look through my peephole in the door, I could se nothing. When I had got dressed I opened the door, which turned out to be covered in a plastic sheet on the outside, and there was brown paper on the floor and more plastic lying in a rumpled snake all down the stairs. Apparently they are redecorating. When I took out some recycling I saw a notice on the front door downstairs about it. It's of course very nice that we get fresh paint on the ceiling and walls, but it's pretty typical that they put up the notice about it after they have already started. It certainly wasn't there last evening when I got home from town.
The houses across the road are getting new windows. I'm hoping our buildings will get new windows soon, too. Maybe it wouldn't be so bloody cold in my flat in the winter, then, and also I'd have windows that could actually be opened and cleaned. The wood in my living room windows is so rotten that I can't open them, because all that happens is that the inner casing comes apart from the outer casing, which is stuck fast in the frame. The wood in the balcony door is pretty rotten, too, so it kind of sticks toghether on a hope and a prayer. The only windows that can be opened and cleaned are the kitchen windows. Ah, and the bedroom windows might be OK, too, it's just that there is so much junk cluttering up the path to them that I haven't tried cleaning them this year. ^^
