Vacillation about vaccination

I found out today that my school has scheduled vaccinations for Swine Flu tomorrow morning. I'll tag along and see if I can get a shot even though I didn't sign up for it (I didn't find out in time). Schools are prioritized, so they get the vaccine now. Otherwise, my age group doesn't get the vaccine until week 48, which is the week I'm going to the UK. That would mean not getting it until I've been there and come back again. This way, I'll get the vaccine enough time in advance that I'll have some protection when I go to the UK. Which is good, since the flu has a greater spread in the UK than here, and I'll spend a lot of time on trains and buses and airplanes, getting friendly with other people's germs.

I've been in two minds about getting the shot. First I thought I wouldn't, since I don't usually ever get the flu, and there is really not enough information about the vaccine and its potential side effects (and lots of weird rumours). But then someone told me I was in a risk group since I had that nearly fatal pneumonia a couple of years back. And I started thinking that the fact that I haven't had the flu for fifteen years or so might mean that I'll actually have less resistance to this new one. And the UK trip kind of sealed the bargain.

Also, getting a very contagious and possibly fatal illness is not good when you are a single person living alone with no family nearby. It was hard enough to ask people to help me out when I had non-contagious pneumonia. I can imagine what it would be like if I had the H1N1 flu.
