I've done the quilting on the waistpiece now, or at least the front part of the waistpiece. I started on it yesterday evening and I just finished it. I have two small back pieces to make, as well.
The whole front piece:

It's actually upside down -- I just took the shot without pausing to think of which way up it was. Upside down as in turned 180 degrees, it's still the front fabric up (which is pale cream crêpe de chine). Middle layer is polyester wadding and the lining is off-white viscose, reinforced with some vlieseline.
The purple colour in the seamlines are the trick marker markings, they are supposed to vanish after a while. The basted outline is the thing including one cm seam allowance.
Details, middle bit:

Side bit. Can you tell it's supposed to be rose leaves?

Well, more important is that it looks good, of course.
I'm thinking that maybe I should sew a line around the whole thing, like a kind of frame, just inside where the actual joining seam is to go. But I'm not sure it's needed. Some of that space is going to disappear once I join the pieces together. Or perhaps I should just stitch it down with lots of small, spread-out stitches around the design, but I'm afraid that will make it look untidy and hard to pick out the actual design.
If any of you have done any quilting before, please let me know if this looks alright.
