UK/Netherlands Trip Status: days three through, uh... five?
AP says that we'll probably have internet in the hotel in Amsterdam, which we'll get to on... Friday, I think. So perhaps more frequent trip updates then :D Also,
random little church building! And a
picture drawn at the V&A.
On Thursday I apparently screwed up my right foot coming out of the Tube station when we found out why it was that everyone was waiting for the lift instead of taking the handy-dandy stairs. Oh, those stairs. I think the AP determined that it was the equivalent of a ten story building. Well. Maybe just eight, but nothing lest than that. Ow. As a result, on Friday I ended up having to sit down for long periods of time and rest my foot when it was starting to hurt too much. Luckily, I had a sketchbook. Yay! :) The British Museum was very cool, even though the AP messed up again when it came to times, but that wasn't really her fault - her book said one thing, and it wasn't entirely clear on what it said.

the Trentham Lady, a Nereid, and Sakhmet (which I think I've always seen spelled Sekhmet, but hey, whatever)
Saturday we decided to call it quits on museums for a day and wandered around Hyde Park, cut through Green Park, and wandered through St. James' Park. I took along my watercolors and my pastels, but it was raining off and on for much of the day, so despite the various picturesque scenes in St. James' park, I wasn't able to do much of anything there. Woe. Luckily, I found a nice spot on a covered terrace next to a café in Hyde Park to do a painting on. I nursed my hot cocoa to the very last. Later I had to sit and let my foot rest, and started doing a charcoal and pastel rendering of a statue, but it started to drizzle before I was done and the AP had to hold an umbrella over me. Awkwardness!

St. George and the dragon (I always end up feeling sorry for the dragon in all the representations I see of St. George - must be my inner Gillichu showing.)
Photo of a
great heron On Sunday we wandered around the National Art Gallery and it was spiffy but overwhelming. The AP and I went to go see a special exhibition of Dutch portrait paintings, and they were very, very neat. No photographs allowed, though, so... HA. Also, no drawings, because I didn't take a picture of my sorry sketch of the rotunda. Weeee~
Today we went to Westminster Abbey and the Museum of London, both of which were spiffy, though apparently now my left foot hurts with a piercing pain and my right only has a dull ache. Woe :\ I had a sandwich with pickle on it for lunch and it was yummy! (That was for Alix.) Also, this morning on the Tube the woman across from me was reading a paper and on the front there was a blurb and photograph of Josh Holloway, talking about his roasting marshmallows (or something). That amused me muchly. (That was for Perrie.)
Speaking of Perrie, a poll!
Poll Where to go?The AP says we can do one or the other. Edinburgh means Perrie, and there are apparently lots of ruins of monasteries we could look at and I could draw along the way. Canterbury, on the other hand, is very, very important in terms of medieval history. I am torn! D:
Edit: Now with better quality images! (I was in a rush yesterday, oops).
