World Domination Status: SPAM. No. Wait. Too evil.

For the past few months I've been receiving notices of disk over-usage for my website, which is strange as my website has never experienced large amounts of traffic. It has gotten to the point where, in the first half of April alone, I have somehow exceeded my disk allowance by 60+ MB. Desperate to somehow cut down on this (and suspecting that the cause might be one or more other sites hotlinking to images on mine), I have pretty much cleaned out my entire server.

Today, however, when I was poking around the disk usage statistics for my site, I found that most of the over-usage is apparently resulting from mail. Which is rather strange, as I have never, at any point in time, used the e-mail account that came with my web space. I really have no idea how to access this mail, and have not tried to do so until today, despite having had this account since 2001 or 2002 or so.

Why did I have to pay $4.10 in over-usage fees last month, and may have to pay $6.10 in fees for the first half of April alone? Spam. Apparently, even though I've never accessed the e-mail account before today, it's been an active address. And it's got five, six years worth of spam build up in there. 40,694 of them. Damn.

*cleans it all out* ...or at least I would, if it would allow me to delete more than 15 messages at a time -.-; And it wasn't terribly slow about it.

...is it bad that I'm somewhat disappointed that the problems aren't because someone's hot-linking to my images? :\ Sigh. I guess I'm just not a good enough artist for that.
