Final count of trick-or-treaters last night: 138
First arrival at: 6 pm

A decent turnout, though significantly less than last year (171) and still nowhere near 1998's all-time record of 220. Please tell me that my family isn't the only one that keeps track of trick-or-treaters? The APs have been doing this since 1976, at least, and it's always seemed like a good idea to me, since this way they know how much stuff to get. My mom always puts candy and cheap little toys (parachute men, shooting frogs, yo-yos, pencils, etc.) in the big metal mixing bowl and then tells kids they can either have one toy or one piece of candy. She refuses to let anyone without some attempt at a costume take anything, and I say more power to her.
If nothing else, I'm severely disappointed by the noticeable decrease in homemade costumes. Not just the really nice ones that are hand sewn by the parents and must have taken a decent chunk out of their Saturday to make, but even just the "thrown together at the last minute" costumes. So many kids just show up in store-bought costumes, or sometimes just a T-shirt, jeans, and a scary, $30 mask. It saddens me muchly :(
If anyone's interested in what I did for Hallowe'en, aside from lazing about with my laptop, claiming to be writing fic but really just chatting online instead of doing my Astro reading, I did something on Sunday with
bluejeans07 and her friend
lumie. Photographic proof can be seen
here and
here. It's better to just not ask what we all were up to >.>
