A/N: Christmas fic for akintay. I hope you like it, hon! Sorry it’s a few days late.

The Christmas morning of Jensen’s and Jared’s third Christmas together starts much in the same way as the first: way too early for Jensen’s liking. Jensen has a firm belief that, as long as it isn’t a work day, he should never have to wake up while it’s still dark outside but, as he opens his eyes and bats Jared’s hands away, he realises that it’s definitely still dark out.

One of the things Jensen loves most about Jared is how enthusiastic the guy is. It’s one of the first things he noticed about him, after the wide friendly smile and the genuine proclamation that Jared was pleased to meet him. Jared’s enthusiasm is infecting; if Jensen’s had a bad day at work, all he needs to do to feel better is listen to Jared rambling about his own day and the really cool article he’d read, or cookie he’d eaten, or person he’d met.

Unfortunately, Jared’s enthusiasm goes up yet another notch at Christmas time and Jensen, Jensen just doesn’t like Christmas all that much. It’s not that he hates it. It just lost most of the magic for him when he was around the age of eleven.

“Merry Christmas, man.” Leaning up on his elbow, Jared grins at him, looking like he’s been awake for hours and not minutes.

Jensen shakes his head. “It’s not Christmas until I’ve had some coffee.”

“Smile, Jensen. It’s Christmas.” Jared laughs and turns away for a moment, picks something up from his bedside table. “Here you go.”

Jensen takes the coffee and takes a few sips before grinning at Jared. “Thank you. Merry Christmas. Can I go back to sleep now?”

“No. We can cuddle, though, if you like.”

Nodding, Jensen shuffles along the bed slightly as Jared wraps an arm around his shoulders. This is his favourite part of their Christmas’ together. The quiet couple of minutes where they just lie there, skin on skin, not needing to say anything. He knows that the rest of the day will be busy; Jared always tries to fit in every possible Christmas activity that they can do and, this year, a few of their friends are coming around to eat, too. But, for this couple of minutes, it’s just the two of them.

“We should make cookies later.”

Jensen nods. “Okay.”

“And sing. Can we sing?”

“If you like.”

“I hope you’ll like your present.”

Jensen sighs as he feels Jared press his lips against the top of his head. Jared always gets him awesome presents and then worries about whether they’re good enough. “I’m sure I will. You bought it for me.”

“Sap.” Jared sounds like he’s smiling.

“You caught me.” He smirks and then sits up suddenly. “Crap, did we get the turkey out last night?”

“Yeah, I did it just before we came up.”

Jensen nods and goes to lie back down, frowns when Jared stops him and sits up himself.

Jared shrugs. “You’re up now, we should go open the presents.”

Jensen just wants to stay in bed all day, pressed up against Jared and talking about nonsense. But Christmas is important to Jared - his boyfriend loves every bit of it - so Jensen nods and swings his legs over the edge of the bed. “Come on, then. We might as well start on this whole Christmas thing now.”

Jared is up and out of the room before Jensen even has a chance to pull on some sweats. Jensen goes a little slower and, by the time he gets downstairs, Jared is waiting next to the tree. They’ve had it up for a couple of weeks now but Jensen still quite can’t believe how it turned out. It’s covered in a mish-mash of decorations, some of them are ones they’ve brought from home, given to them by their parents. Others are ones that they’ve bought themselves over the last few years. Back home in Texas, even though they were allowed to help decorate the tree as kids, Jensen’s Mom had always had the final say over the tree, making sure that it at least resembled something tidy. Their tree, though, looks like the box of stuff has just been tipped out over it. Jensen likes it, although he hasn’t told Jared.

“Open one of yours first.” Jared holds a present out to him.

“Okay.” He takes the gift and sits down cross-legged on the floor. The tag says it’s from Jared and Jensen smiles as he pulls at the paper it’s wrapped in.

“You’ve got something else as well.” Jared drops down opposite him, knees knocking together. “But I had to get you this when I saw it.”

Jensen finishes pulling the paper off and laughs when he sees the box. There’s a photo of what’s inside on the front, a mug covered in the Canadian flag. “Thanks, man. It’s awesome.”

“I figured you could use it on set or something.”

“I will do.” Jensen sets the box aside and leans forward to kiss Jared. “Thank you.”

“You already said that.” Jared glances towards the tree. “My turn.”

Jensen nods and watches as Jared launches himself towards the presents. He’s still not that big on Christmas but, as long as it makes Jared happy, he’ll go along with everything today. Especially because he knows that tomorrow is Boxing Day and he’ll get to spend it the way he likes: just him and Jared.
