Wonderful stuff! I love the idea that Sam needs something that will "push Dean into being Dean again."

And I thought this was a great bit: Family. Family and being able to trust the people closest to him were the most important things to Dean. For as long as Sam could remember, Dean had trusted him wholly and without hesitation. He had betrayed that trust. It hadn’t been a good idea.

In hindsight, nothing he had done since Dean had gone to hell had been a good idea. Summed up the entire season 4 quite awesomely.

Oh, btw, ...the ability to control and to be stronger that Dean. Um, do you mean, than?

Oh the angst! That's exactly what the series was missing a bit, the transition from season 4 to 5 beyond 5.03. I love your take on that. You convey Sam's pain really well.
