Longest hiatus yet...

Dec 15, 2011 21:26

At least I have a good excuse for this hiatus. :-)

Since my last post, in March, I've moved to Washington D.C., started a master's program in museum education, and generally taken my life in the direction I have always wanted it to go.

I share a lovely apartment with Sarah, who is working toward her master's in library science at U of Maryland. I get to see her every night and every morning, without driving 110 miles. It's incredible!

I love the D.C. area and have found a dance studio, used book store, and Thai restaurant (the essentials!) in my explorations. I have mastered the Metro system and I LOVE that my commute no longer involves a car; I can read, crochet, listen to music, or just THINK, without being anxiously navigating freeway traffic!

This fall I interned at a public middle school and learned that 7th and 8th graders are not as scary as I had thought. This spring I will be working on educational projects at the U.S. Botanic Garden, a good place to be in the dead of winter!

Life is beautiful. I have everything I was wishing for one year ago right now.

Well, I will in January, when we bring home our new cats (Simon and River, a 1 1/2-year-old brother and sister). I can't wait!!

My social network focus has mainly been Facebook and Twitter, but I want to keep this LJ up, too. I am currently building a professional website and blog so I will have an online presence in the museum world. That will get posted when it is more ready. :-) This LJ will remain my personal page.

Hugs and love to you all!
