I wanted to dedicate my first entry back for the next round of semi-blogging to the next new toy in the house. Over Thanksgiving, Fox bought a new range to fit our specialized space in the kitchen. The whole idea has been weird for me from the start and since then I have been mildly disgruntled about it. See, our kitchen was state of the art when the house was built in 1984 and is still functional in its current state. That said, it has had quirks with melamine cabinets almost continuous with the countertops, an abundance of beige and mismatched appliances. Fox and I each had our priorities for what needed to be modified next. My vote has been for our whistling, chortling refrigerator for being difficult to clean and it technical difficulties. Fox wished the range gone for... well, the same reasons. I tried to take the range down a couple of notches by leaving a cover on a burner while heating, changing the metallic structure of the top and the cover.
So, despite my means and the lack of my participation in the decision, the range arrived yesterday to an excited household in gleaming splendor. I had to finish off the malcontent cake by griping over whether or not the delivery folks should have been staffed with a installer. Nevertheless, Fox did an exemplary job putting it together and it is ready to go. I must say that now that I have gotten over myself about not getting my way, I am excited about learning about it. Oh, and I am looking forward to not cooking my food with small electrical fires.
