Year In Review & Luck

Dec 21, 2005 23:30

As last seen (by me) on kikayume's journal:

Copy the first sentance from your post at the beginning of each month, and this will sum up your 2005 year:

J: If everyday this year were like today, this year will be a success.
F: Philisophical discussions were the order of the day today.
M: I have become accomstomed to failure; sometimes I welcome it.
A: It's going to be a chilly morning.
M: I think about you guys and this place every day that I am away.
J: It took me two mornings to get through all of the pictures at this site.
J: I want to use this (crazy ebay mom) link to remind me, in a real and legally binding sense, about how things could be if I buy things that have questionable immediate value.
A: After my babysitting adventure this weekend, I finally had a day off of work (playing a little sorta hookey) today.
S: I'm not off to a very good start with the whole cube thing.
O: As I say this, keep in mind that I am not a movie person... they just don't hold my attention that often.
N: As an aside, the song listed under music always incites me to shout out something along the lines of 'Oh no, gyrating thrusting zombie bears!' when we see the video in beatmania IIdx.
D: Another uneventful drive through the Allegheny mountains took place earlier today.

I am ambivalent about the day. On one hand, the evidence of the home repair jinx is in full effect. No contractors showed up to complete actual work today. With my being in charge tomorrow, we certainly will not be done by the time we leave. I have given in and agreed not to fuss about it anymore. It does not really seem to make a lot of difference.

On the positive side, we got a chance to meet with T&K tonight. Their adoptive baby girl was born yesterday morning and they were in town to eventually bring her back to Houston. Tonight, we celebrated at Pappadeaux's. It's good to see them again. We need to do so much more often. They are having an open adoption, meaning that the birth mother is allowed to be involved in the baby's life for things such as birthdays etc. I guess things have changed a bit since I was born; I don't think that was even an option back then. The weird thing was about the other children of the birth mother, who did not even know about their once baby sister.... It was sort of weird, is all. T&K were watching these kids for a few hours today until mom was released from the hospital. I bet it was difficult to keep from saying anything to tip them off.
