Today we all woke up super late, and then there was a bit of a panic. We had a flight to catch from Brisbane and we hadn’t even started packing. Because we were only going for a few days we figured the essentials would do, and everything had to work with a carry on. That did help with timing as the majority of us were set to go within 20 minutes. A quick (well 1 hour) drive to Brisbane airport and we were ready to board the plane. It was mostly empty so we all got seats to ourselves. And by all, I mean the 2 couples sat together and then I sat on my own. It was at this point I wondered if this trip would make me feel like a 5th wheel, but I quickly (maybe too quickly) pushed that thought away.
We arrived in Proserpine airport which was the size of my bedroom, lol. You pretty much walk out of the plane, and then take 5 more steps and you’re outside of the airport. We had to arrange a shuttle to take us to our first destination which was easy considering there were only 3 counters there. The bus took us to Airlie beach where we were going to spend the night. We quickly checked into a hotel (splitting costs 5 ways makes it cheaper than a hostel) and then we headed out for dinner. The entire town seemed to be full of friendly backpackers and music filled the air, we walked along the water for a bit before we decided to call it a night as we had to be up early the next day.
