Thor II Reaction And Thoughts Post

So, with all the incredibly awful stuff going on with Obamacare at the moment (Obama's "administrative fix" has, if anything, just made the whole situation worse and more confusing), I thought it might be nice to take a break for some fangirl squee. Because, I love this movie. It has given me ~*THOUGHTS*~.

First off, I loved this movie. Loki is the best villain ever. Ever at all. Also, the worldbuilding was better. And the character development was better. And the story was bigger. And Heimdall--impossibly--got even more badass and snarky. There is next-to nothing to dislike about this movie. (Ian, while not specifically annoying, did absolutely nothing that Darcy could not have done without him, and therefore has no reason at all to be in the film. The Dark Elves speaking in subtitles actually was annoying, but I can deal.)

So, I have started writing up my thoughts in a running commentary as I watch through the MCU. (If anyone's interested, you may read all those commentaries here.) One of the things I observed is that when Thor, Loki, and Jane are escaping from Asgard, Odin tells his soldiers to "Stop Thor using any means necessary."

And here's the part where I get on the Odin-is-a-really-crappy-parent bandwagon (the Odin-is-a-massive-jerk one I hopped on at the "goat at a banquet table" bit). Prior to this, while he was hardly a perfect father, he was at least only ordinarily flawed. But "any means necessary," when speaking to the military, has a very specific meaning: it authorizes lethal force. So, Odin basically told his soldiers to kill his own son--and their prince--if that was what it took to keep him from getting out of Asgard. And told them to do this the day after his wife had been murdered, no less. All for a crappy plan that would probably get most of Asgard dead.

!?!

So, yeah, I wasn't really in that particular school of thought before. Now, though? Whatever Loki did to him, I'm kinda hoping that it wasn't murder but was painful.

...Yeah, like I said, I have ~*THOUGHTS*~.

Also, Loki is one of those if-you-mention-him-you-must-post-pics kinda people, so here you go:
