"But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken." - Barack Obama speaking about the Zimmerman/Martin verdict, in a
statement posted on the White House website, July 14, 2013
That should have been it - the final word. Since then, Barack Obama has continued to spread false information and fan the flames of racism. Obama, the man who was
FINALLY declared a "post-racial President" in 2010.
Obama
made remarks today that have become a regular thing for him - he says he's not going to comment on something and then he opens his mouth and lets the verbal vomit come roaring out. Today he said, "Trayvon Martin could have been me." He's also worked to steer the argument that Stand Your Ground played a factor in this when it wasn't even part of the Zimmerman/Martin trial. When Henry Louis Gates was arrested in 2009, Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times brought up the incident at a press conference in which Obama admitted that he didn't know all of the facts of the case, then went on to say that the police
"acted stupidly". Of course, he based that opinion on reports from his beloved media lap-dogs.
Part of real leadership means knowing what to say, when to say it, and knowing when it's time to just stop talking. I don't see that in Obama, and I haven't for quite a while, especially when it comes to racial issues. Obama is less of a uniter and definitely more of a divider.
