Hi all. As one of the moderators of this community I generally don't interfere with what goes on, mind my own business and try to keep this a drama free place ( Read more... )

would it be possible to restart the discussion, but in a way that removes the accusatory content? the topic of cultism and religious abuse is rarely discussed, except by fundies looking to target an outgroup, and that does leave people with non-mainstream religious beleifs vulnerable to possible abuse, and I beleive that there were a few of us having an informative discussion on the point while being completely unaware of the hidden drama content,

Oh sure. Feel free to start a new thread on the topic minus the drama content. That would be fine. :)

I didn't follow the links in the actual post, but did respond on the general topic with what I thought was sane and helpful information on identifying potentially unsafe or unhealthy situations. Is there any way to retrieve what I wrote?

As I told wolf_nd_shadows I would be strongly in favor of someone starting a new post on the topic minus the unsubstantiated accusations against various individuals. I think the topic is a worthy one but frankly including links with a lot of what amounted to vicious gossip presented as fact was something I would not have permitted to stay on this community, no matter who the accusations were directed towards. While I think the topics of abuse and dangerous behavior are very important, I also happen to think that the gossip, libel and slander aspects also bear some scrutiny and discussion. I'd love to see those of you who were getting something constructive from the original post revive that content in a new post and corresponding thread. :) Please feel free to do so.

PS--I'm afraid I don't know of any way to salvage responses from a post that has been deleted. Unfortunately it's not moderator policy here to keep posts up that have "flame" or libellous aspects to them, no matter how fruitful the threads that follow. Had the original poster not opted to include such content or had the original poster been able to provide public, provable record of any legal convictions I could have kept the post up. I'm very sorry anything constructive was lost and hope you all can revive the constructive content in a new post. I look forward to seeing it. :)
