New column up tomorrow. I really like this one. It's an in-depth breakdown of the PSP's launch package and the games that are being released at launch time. It was a lot of fun to write, kinda like the old news reports where you take a bit of news and just analyze it from every angle. Unfortunately, it seems like the only things worth talking ( Read more... )

First, because I'm in a clarification mood and MSN is down and I am in a shitty mood RE: School, The PSP Battery Life is much closer to 4-6 hours, on the low end of things, in terms of gaming. The 2 hours is more or less speaking from the movie standpoint (And yes, the first shipment of PSPs ships with a UMD Copy of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2).

I've never really been interested in the PSP because I really can't find a single title I'd really like to play on it. I can see if I had a lot of disposable income and did a fair amount of travelling. In those situations, the movie and music features, combined with gaming, would make for a device I'd go for. But, as it stands, there are almost no titles that really get me excited for the system, and even then I don't think there will be in the future either.

This isn't to say that I have faith in the DS; I'm fairly hardcore Nintendo, by nature, and I (Like you) have found no reason to shell out the ludicrous $200 Canadian that Nintendo is charging for the thing. We won't speak of how that Canadian price should be at least $20 cheaper, and instead focus on the fact that there are TWO games I'd pick up with the system right now. Mario 64 DS and Wario Ware: Twisted. Yes, I'm interested in Mario Kart, Advance Wars, Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, etc. But they want me to shell out $200 for two games that interest me? No way.

I'll touch on the PSP Price in my formal analysis of the article, but it didn't break the deal for me; there was no deal in the first place.
