Aimee and BJ's Wedding -

We photographed Aimee and BJ's wedding this last weekend and it was such a lovely affair. Their theme was green, and it was more than just a color statement. The event was held at McIver Park, to reduce the resources used, and every effort was made to have the wedding be as sustainable and simple as possible. But it was not only all of those things, it was the celebration of two fabulous friends. They met in college and have been together ever since, and their wedding was full of testaments to the power of connection. Even their vows were true to the tone-- simple, and yet so powerful that even I cried! It was a remarkable evening to be a part of.

There were so many perfect details to their wedding, all following the theme.

Each of their friends decorated wine bottles to serve as centerpieces, so they were each a unique and artistic contribution.

I love it when couples do a "first look."

The walk down the aisle began the emotional ceremony, as Aimee's father just passed away this spring.

Their ceremony was held under a giant oak tree.

As they kissed, all of their friends let out a "joyful noise" with noisemakers.

Aimee chose a pendant, rather than a ring, engraved with the words "The journey is the reward." I never did catch what BJ's ring said."

Aimee's college roommate relating her first memories of both of them.

I think that this was in reaction to her memories of BJ.

The desserts were done by the local bakery Della Contente. They were marvelous.

Instead of the normal garter and bouquet toss, they tossed frisbees with cash taped inside.

Then they played a song for their guests...

and made everyone else dance.

The evening ended with more dancing.

and this time, even the bride and groom got in on the action.
