I got sick but it was worth it.
The rain drops rolled down the window
As my hand followed them along the glass
Beside me two friends wrestled
On the seat and you just laughed
Curled in giggles I sat and sighed
And turned to face your way
But as I did you slammed the door
And ran into the rain
The lightning hit the fields beyond
Lighting your silohette through the dark
Climbing over and out the door I stood
Knowing this couldn't keep us apart
Feeling those first raindrops
Hitting and multiplying in my hands
Soon drenching ever part of me
As if God were telling them where to land
I ran out into the blackness
Without any light or direction
Only to find you with a flash of lightning
Standing still, quiet in reflection
I ran up and stopped behind you
Amidst the thunder screaming your name
You turned around and I think we smiled
And then walked back just as we came
Opening the car door
the outside's silence was broken
By the pseudo lovers' laughter inside
While our emotions were left unspoken
Your seats were soaked and we all went home
Leaving that night unto the past
And as I watched you drive away that night
I traced those raindrops
