YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY NEPHEW WAS BORN TODAY!!!!!!!
He is a beautiful baby
boy. His name is Joshua Allen, 7.56 lbs, 20 in. born at 2:11pm. It was
the most incredible experience ever. I was so lucky that I got to
actually be there!! Paul called at 9:30 saying that Athena was going
into labor and that they were at the hospital (keep in mind I'm lying
in my bed in Ellensburg, and they're in Olympia). So I quickly email my
prof. for my 11:00 class and tell her what's going on, and I pack my
bags and get on the road. I am flying over the mountain (actually going
about like 70-75 the whole time), but then I get to I-5 and I was going
around 70-75 the whole time from Federal Way to Olympia praying that I
wouldn't get a ticket, and I call and check in with my little brother
and he says the her water has broken and that we're just waiting. I
thought that I was going to miss it, but luckily I get there and she
was just about to start pushing! I was sooooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!
So then she starts pushing and the whole thing took about an hour and
half. The nurses were so impressed with her because very few women
nowadays choose not to have an epidural, and she only had local
anesthetics, and during the whole time she was barely making any noise,
and they said that she was just an amazing pusher, she was sooo good!
So anyway, I ended up getting to hold her right leg and move it up and
down depending on when she was pushing or resting, etc. It was soo
amazing to be right there "in the action" and get to see the whole
thing! The only part that I struggled with was they had to do an episiotomy otherwise she would have torn, (which is
actually fairly common), and I didn't watch them do it, but I watched
the tail end of it, and when I heard the snipping, I started going
pale, and the nurses were asking if I was ok, and I thought I was, but
then I got really light headed and could barely hear, and so I had to
pass Athena's leg holding onto someone else (this was right as Joshua
was crowning) and I had to go and sit down so I wouldn't pass out. So
that sucked, and right as I was lying down, they pulled him out, so I
kind of missed that part, but not really.
So yeah! It was so incredibly beautiful, and I started crying when Paul
held his son, and he was tearing up, it was incredible. I took TONS of
pictures, so I'm definitely going to post some when I get back to
Ellensburg. So that's that! I'm ridiculously happy and I'm so happy
that I got to be there for it. YAY! now it's time for bed, and I'm
going to go and see Athena and Joshua in the hospital tomorrow then
head back to the 'burg. bye for now!
