Today marks the two month mark until the wedding. Things are really starting to come together. Two weeks ago was my bridal shower. I had a fabulous time. Paul's mom and Aunts really outdid themselves with the party. The place looked great. They had everything all decorated in purple. The food was Italian and was pretty yummy for a shower. I felt like I didn't get much time to get any food in my mouth. I was so busy talking with everyone and taking pictures. It was so nice to see everyone who came. There were probably arouund forty people who attended. I couldn't believe how many presents I received. Everyone was really super generous. I got so much cool stuff for the kitchen. I can't wait to start using all of it. Right now it is all still at his parents because it was just too much for me to store and transport. I got almost all of the kitchen stuff on my registy. I am planning to use a few of my target gift cards to pick out some bedroom stuff. There aren't a whole lot of stories to tell about the shower but when I get the pictures I will post a few.
Right after the shower, I flew out to Washington DC. The city is really different from how I remember it from Freshmen year. I was amazed at how easy it was to get around. I actually didn't hate the metro nearly as much as I anticipated. On Sunday, I wasn't feeling too hot. I hadn't got any sleep in a few days and flying sometimes makes me feel kinda rotten. We really didn't get out much at all and just had dinner at Friday's and slept lots. Monday I took the first trip on the metro. I didn't even get lost which was quite the accomplishment for me. I went to Ballston where Paul worked to see an apartment. Paul was suppose to know where the apartment was but he got us lost. We never did find the apartment. It was pretty annoying. We did go to a neat Mexican restaurant and shopping in a nearby mall. Tuesday, we went out again apartment hunting. We actually got to see an apartment this time. It was a fixer upper for sure. I think we put a pretty positive spin on it but neither of us were really excited about it. This turned out to be a really good thing. The guy refused to rent to a couple because of some city ordinance. It was a bit scary because we only had one other appointment to look and it wasn't even in the area where we wanted to live. I went on a craigslist binge looking for places. We eventually got an appointment to go see one at Taylor place apartments. It is about two miles from where Paul works. We went to see the apartment and Thursday and fell completely in love with it. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous. Everything in it is brand new. There are no cracks, or stains or any other problem. It is also huge. Its about twice the size of the other apartments we looked at. It has a wonderful kitchen with new appliances and granite countertops. I also love that I have my own washer and dryer right in the unit. No more paying for laundry. The complex has a pool and a work out room. Its got a doorman and a really cute park like setting. I am totally excited to move into it. When we get better pictures, I will post a link to them. If any of you are in the DC area, we will have plenty of room for guests.
After finding the apartment, we went out to celebrate. We went to the downtown area. I did a bit of sightseeing. Nothing major mostly just seeing the outside of buildings. We eventually choose a cute little bar for dinner. It was super quiet and the food was really good. We had a great time together. It was so much fun imagining living together in our new place. On Friday, Paul got out of work a bit early so we could go sign the lease. We spent some time just admiring our new place. We then went out to dinner with Stephanie at this really nice Italian restaurant. We had an awesome time. I forgot how much fun she is to hang out with. Our waiter was awesome. He had all these crazy stories about customers. He also gave Paul a pocket protector. Scarily, Paul liked and used the pocket protector. It was a sad day for humanity. Saturday, Paul and I just hung out and watched movies. The weather was nasty and we were both feeling a bit down about the end of the trip. I really was not at all ready to go home. Thankfully, I get to see Paul in April for Easter and I am moving out there most likely in early May. It has been really hard adjusting to being apart again. I moped around most of the day on Monday. I will be so glad to be done with the saying goodbyes.
